QUALITY, LUXURY AND, ABOVE ALL, MADE IN ITALY

Today we will discuss GHIBLI, one of the most well-known Italian handmade bag brands. Piero Manzi and Maura Cioni had Ghibli in 1968. Their passion for producing high-quality bags and accessories has grown over the years, gaining international recognition.

Python and exotic materials - the production process

Ghibli has specialized in working with python and exotic materials, which are symbols of luxury, since the 1980s.
The company's strength stems from its location in the well-known Tuscan "leather district," which is home to tanneries. Tuscany is the most famous in the world, practically the "cradle" of world fashion. The company does not use tanned python skins, but instead buys the best leather directly from Indonesian farms. Thus, the python is presented unprocessed, natural, and ready for hand-dyeing by the company's leather masters. Together with style and modeling, they investigate fashion trends and sources of inspiration, creating color sketches on paper with pencils. Colors are converted into chemical formulas, and the best ones are hand-painted with brushes by experts. The production and finishing time for one 8/10 meter long python skin ranges from 24 to 72 hours. Atmospheric conditions are an important factor; the more humid the environment, the longer the skin takes to dry.

Ghibli woven bags - tubular weaving

That is why each Ghibli bag is one-of-a-kind, reflecting the company's passion for Made in Italy craftsmanship and love of luxury Ghibli woven bags represent the craftsmanship that distinguishes this company. Making a woven item is not the same as making a python. First and foremost, those

who choose calfskin should be experts in the material. Ghibli only employs the superior luxurious weaving method known as tubular weaving. This means that after a lengthy manufacturing process in which the leather is bent at the edges, each individual leather strap passes through special equipment equipped with rollers that fold the leather on itself to form a single single strap with a good leather front and back.

Following that, an experienced weaver begins to weave leather straps on an old wooden form. Because of his skill, the bag has no seams and is woven into shape in one piece. This method cannot be performed by machines; it must be performed entirely by hand. Today, only a few and rare craftspeople know how to weave tubular bags. Ghibli wants nothing but the best for their customers.

Due to the importance of national and international product positioning, the company renovated and expanded its facilities in 2000.
In addition to the standard production laboratory, a site for creating, studying, and hand-painting a python was built. Ghibli draws even more attention with exclusive, one-of-a-kind python specimens.

50 years of family business

2018 brings a lot of happiness. Ghibli is celebrating its 50th year in business. Since 1968, the company has been run by the same family.
The company has evolved and grown in lockstep with the times, but it has not lost sight of its core strength: a passion for craftsmanship.
In terms of the family, there are currently three generations working in the company, and they are always present with their employees.

Yes, we work with pride and confidence to promote this reality, which has distinguished itself for over a half-century with its distinctive high-quality products.
Quality, luxury, and, most importantly, Made in Italy.
